As part of this teaching initiative, students participate in a practice-oriented, interdisciplinary seminar that combines technology ethics with interactive storytelling and game design. In this hands-on format, they explore how games—from pen-and-paper to digital formats—can serve as tools to understand the complex interrelationships between innovation, regulation and ethical decision-making in the tech ecosystem. In diverse teams, participants will develop playable prototypes that simulate real-world dilemmas from fields such as artificial intelligence, immersive technologies, business development and societal impacts. The seminar will be accompanied by contributions from international experts from academia, industry (e.g., TÜV Süd) and civil society (e.g., the United Nations University). At the end of the seminar, students will have in-depth insights into collaborative problem-solving, user-centered design and the interdisciplinary tensions that shape today’s technological landscape.
