The Institute for Ethics in Artificial Intelligence – TUM took part in the public consultation on the “White Paper on Artificial Intelligence – a European Approach to excellence and trust” published on February 19, 2020 by the European Commission.

IEAI Director, Prof. Christoph Lütge, submitted on behalf of the IEAI the responses to the questionnaire along with a brief statement that summarizes the key issues that need to be highlighted.

  • The role of academia: Academic research must play major role in designing tools and implementing ethical frameworks and guidelines.
  • The need for a multidisciplinary approach: This approach is more than needed if we want to comprehensively address the growing group of ethical challenges arising at the interface of technology and human values.
