On June 5th, the IEAI had the pleasure of hosting Munich US Consul General Dr. James Miller at our offices.

The IEAI team presented a snapshot of the Institute’s mission and activities, with a focus on our interdisciplinary approach and work with external stakeholders. Our Research Associates: Alexander Kriebitz, Simay Toplu, Julia Li and Franziska Poszler with Communications Consultant Anastasia Aritzi, presented four of our projects with particularly high relevance for policymakers and public literacy on AI:

MELISSA – Mobile Artificial Intelligence Solution for Diabetes Adaptive Care

AI4POL: Using Artificial Intelligence to Support Regulators & Policymakers

alignAI: Aligning LLM Technologies with Societal Values

MoralPLai: A Creative Method for Communicating and Co-shaping AI Ethics Research

The presentation was followed by discussion about points for collaboration and shared interest going forward. This included the topics of responsible AI governance, the connection between AI and human security, navigating the quickly growing Munich AI ecosystem, and the need for more AI literacy efforts aimed at the public, as well as the potential for different types of Munich based events on ethical AI.
