We are excited to announce that the MoralPLai Project will take center stage at this year’s The Responsible AI Forum, returning to the Amerikahaus on May 20th from 13:30–14:45. This marks an important milestone for the project. One year ago, on May 22, 2025, the MoralPLai team premiered its artistic output, The Third Voice, at the very same venue. Now, we come back to Amerikahaus with fresh reflections and a new format: a documentary revisiting the project’s journey as it enters a new chapter in its evolution and a live discussion.

From Stage to Screen

What began with an idea that turned into a theatrical performance has now further evolved into a documentary that revisits highlights from the 2025 premiere, including key moments from the stage play, the post-performance panel discussion, audience interactions and insights gathered through the post-performance survey. The documentary also reflects on how the project has developed over the past year and where it stands today within broader discussions on AI, its role as a potential moral dialog partner and public engagement. Snippets from the performance, along with new materials such as interviews with the core team, give a fresh impulse and perspective.

“The MoralPLai Project began as a bold idea: an unconventional approach to communicating research through artistic expression. Since then, it has evolved into a theatrical production exploring how AI systems–especially chatbots–might play a role in everyday moral decision-making and emotional support. What started as an experimental bridge between art, research and public engagement has grown into an ongoing interdisciplinary inquiry into how we use AI responsibly in daily life.  Returning to Amerikahaus one year later, as a main-stage event of TRAIF, is both an honor and a testament to the project’s continued relevance. We are grateful to the organizers for the invitation and glad to continue this work with our collaborators, participants, and the wider community.” Dr. Franziska Poszler

A Conversation Across Time

The session will open with a welcome from MoralPLai core team members Dr. Franziska Poszler and Anastasia Aritzi, who will set the stage for an inspiring multi-format experience, beginning with the documentary’s premiere and followed by a dynamic live panel discussion. The selected lineup of speakers will share their experiences with the project, reflect on the performance and its impact and open up key perspectives on the ethics of AI chatbots. More specifically, on stage will be:

  • Eva Riekenbrauck, a cast member of The Third Voice, sharing her learnings during the theater production.
  • Denis Sedlmeier, a Higher Education consultant at ProLehre, TUM, and an attendee of the theater premiere, contributing reflections grounded in his lived experience of the performance alongside his expertise in didactics.
  • Dr. Benjamin Lange, Junior Research Group Leader at the Professorship of Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, LMU, providing expert insights on the project’s themes and recent developments in AI chatbots.

The panel discussion will be moderated by the MoralPLai Principal Investigator and Project Lead, Dr. Franziska Poszler, and will be followed by an open Q&A session, inviting the audience to join the ongoing dialog.

We look forward to welcoming you to Amerikahaus as we revisit where the story began and explore where it leads next.
