Mohamed Amine Essayem, student at the TUM School of Management, is part of the latest cohort of student assistants and volunteers supporting the successful implementation of the MoralPLai Project. Explore his reflections on key project topics and discover what inspired him to join the team.

What inspired you to join the MoralPLai project?

I was drawn to the MoralPLai project because of its unique intersection between AI, ethics, and human creativity. I believe it has the potential to spark meaningful conversations and shape the way I think about AI’s role in society.

What are your thoughts on combining research with the arts?

I think combining research with the arts is a powerful way to explore complex ideas. Research provides structured insights and data-driven analysis, while the arts offer an emotional and intuitive way of engaging with these concepts.

How comfortable would you feel taking guidance from AI on a personal issue?

It depends on the nature of the issue. For factual, logistical, or brainstorming support, I would feel comfortable relying on AI. However, for deeply personal or emotional matters, I would still prioritize human input.

Would you consider relying on AI for advice in a moral dilemma?

I would consider AI’s input, but I wouldn’t rely on it entirely.

What role do you think creativity plays in exploring complex ethical questions around AI?

Creativity is crucial because it allows us to imagine possibilities beyond the current limitations of AI. It helps us envision alternative futures, critique existing biases, and express ethical concerns in ways that resonate with people emotionally and intellectually.
