The Third Voice, the artistic outcome of the MoralPLai Project, was presented on May 22, 2025, at the Amerikahaus in Munich. Mirjam Novak, Eva Riekenbrauck, Swaraj Oturkar, Stephanie Schulte, Ravi Rege and Joanna Semmelrogge were the six actors who brought the play vividly to life under the theatrical direction of Professor Kresny, with assistance from stage manager Emma Hoffmann.
As the MoralPLai team continues to explore the impact of The Third Voice, we invited the cast to share their experience through a short set of questions, touching on everything from the motivation that brought them into the project, to their evolving thoughts on AI, and the moments from the script that left a lasting impression.
Mirjam Novak played the doctor in The Third Voice. Here is an inside look at her journey through the role, along with her reflections on the overall MoralPLai experience.
Enjoy the read!

1. What inspired you to join the MoralPlai project?
Recently I heard so much about AI; I am partly curious and partly concerned about it. I thought the play would feed me with more information while addressing my passion for theater.

2. How comfortable would you feel taking guidance from an AI chatbot on a personal issue?
In my private life, I have only used AI for creative projects, and I am giving very clear instructions, still, sometimes it proposes senseless material. For that reason, I would not trust an AI with my personal issues.

“It doesn’t replace me. I don’t just obey. It’s information.”

3. Has this play influenced your perception of the role of AI in our daily lives, either positively or negatively? If so, in what ways?
Since the play, I actually feel more comfortable using AI. I know now that it is a tool and that I can use it with care, not stopping to use my reasoning, though. Before, I was very suspicious as I didn’t understand it.

4. If you had to choose just one sentence from the script to keep, which one would it be, and why does it stand out to you?
“His wish, his dignity preserved.” Everyone should be allowed to have their opinion and their wishes met regarding their body and life decisions. Being able to make those decisions is a preservation of dignity. So exactly that we should not hand over to an artificial intelligence tool.
5. What final thought would you like people to take away from this experience?
The findings of this research were so beautifully packaged in this play. And it invites us to keep asking questions and for all the parties to start leading an honest conversation. We shouldn’t be scared of it, but be open and see everyone as a valuable addition to shaping our future with AI. I wish more people would be able to see the play: children, parents, teachers, politicians and the industry creating and training AI.
