With its Speaker Series, the TUM Institute for Ethics in Artificial Intelligence invites experts from all over the world to talk about ethics and governance of AI. These events serve as an important platform for sharing new research and exchanging knowledge.

The June session of the TUM IEAI Speaker Series will take place on 17th June,  10am (CEST) virtually via Zoom. The topic of the session with Samira Samadi will be “Building more Ethical ML – for Humans, with the Help of Humans”.

We are pleased to announce that the speaker for this session is Samira Samadi, the research leader of the “Human Aspects of Machine Learning” group at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems (MPI-IS). Before this, she got her Ph.D. from the school of Computer Science at Georgia Tech in the US. Her research background is in machine learning (ML) and algorithm design, with a recent focus on developing fair and efficient ML models. More broadly, Samira studies the interactions between humans and ML and uses her findings to design ML systems that augment humans’ abilities rather than replacing them.
