Moral PLai: An AI Ethics Drama Like No Other

All in English. Free entry with prior registration.

Should we rely on AI for emotional support? Should we trust it with our most personal decisions? Can AI provide moral guidance?

Artificial Intelligence is already making choices that were once deeply human. But what does that mean for us? The MoralPLai Project brings these urgent questions to the stage in a thought-provoking performance that blends AI ethics with the raw power of research-based theater.

Led by a team at the Institute for Ethics in Artificial Intelligence and supported by an international team of experts from the University of Notre Dame, metaLAB (at) Harvard and the Technical University of Munich, this groundbreaking project transforms real-life ethical dilemmas into a gripping theater play.

With the support of Amerikahaus and funding from the Notre Dame-IBM Tech Ethics Lab, the Friedrich-Schiedel-Fellowship Program at the TUM Think Tank and the TUM School of Social Sciences and Technology, the TUM Global Incentive Fund, the Tuition Substitution Funds, the Klaus Tschira Foundation gGmbH as well as the TUM Center for Culture and Arts, MoralPLai bridges rigorous academic research and the arts to explore AI’s impact on human decision-making and open a dialog that aims to engage all the relevant stakeholders: academia, industry, policymakers and civil society.

More than just a play, “The Third Voice” is an invitation to reflect, question and challenge the future of AI beyond academic silos.

We look forward to welcoming you to this unique theatrical exploration of AI’s moral dimensions that will take place on May 22nd at the Amerikahaus followed up by a live discussion, where the panelists will further explore the play’s themes, examine whether AI is reshaping our moral compass and influencing our decisions, and address questions from the audience.
