In March 2023, our researcher, Ellen Hohma, attended the 20th Oxford Spring School in Advanced Research Methods. The weeklong course was organized by the University of Oxford’s Department of Politics and International Relations to teach cutting-edge research methods.

The course included morning sessions on theory and credibility as well as afternoon sessions, depending on the chosen track, offered from a variety of qualitative or quantitative research methods, such as causal inference, text analysis or machine learning. During coffee and lunch breaks as well as during the welcome reception and Brasenose College drinks reception to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Spring School, the participants, that came from all around the world, had the opportunity to exchange with their fellows. The historic Oxford experience was completed by the friendly accommodation in the time-honored student halls of Brasenose College.

“What I have received is fascinating new knowledge and research impulse, inspiring contacts from all over the world and unforgettable memories of the historic experience at Brasenose College and Oxford University.” – Ellen Hohma
